Light Strip Mod
thingiverse
To enhance our stage's appeal, especially during night performances, lights were added. Thanks to my brother-in-law, a strip of lights from MakerBot was received. To avoid excessive brightness, the light strips were cut, and two sets of three strips were chosen for the Z platform's clear plastic. The lights were attached to either side of the heated tip. To connect them, extra wire from the original bot build was used to solder the strips together. These were then connected to properly identified buss strips with convenient solder holes. To power these LEDs, they were linked to the extruder controller. However, a 12v source wasn't easily available here, so pins were soldered onto the board for the LEDs to connect. The lights were connected at the power LED area initially, but this caused issues with surface mount pieces. So, the next plan was to solder pins to the 12v regulator chip. The result of these efforts is stunning, especially at night, making our stage truly stand out.
