Light saber / sabre from 41mm PVC pipe
thingiverse
This is a simple lightsaber made from a 41mm PVC pipe and some 3D printed parts that are quick to assemble. It's lightweight, incredibly strong and looks amazing. I created this for my son who wanted to build his own lightsaber after watching YouTube videos. You have two options for the emitter, so feel free to mix and match as you prefer. I've included the OpenSCAD source files so you can customize the design to fit your needs. Keep in mind that you'll likely need to adjust the dimensions to match the diameter of your PVC pipe. If you create a derivative, please link back to this original design. To build it, I used PLA and then spray painted with primer followed by black and silver coats. The guide ring helps ensure accurate positioning of the handle grip bars on the PVC pipe. Before painting, make sure to lightly sand the PVC pipe as paint doesn't stick well otherwise. There's plenty of space inside this design for you to add a battery, LED and even turn it into a flashlight if you'd like. Have fun experimenting!
