Light Saber Mini - Every Star Wars fan needs one!

thingiverse

The Lightsaber Mini is a single piece print featuring intricate moving components (handle and two inner sliding sections). The 'light' segments retreat completely within the handle before extending fully with a swift wrist movement. Every Star Wars fan, be they Jedi or Sith, will surely desire to keep one of these mini marvels in their pocket! Changing filaments at strategic points gives this miniature light saber a multicolored appearance, making it a precise representation of a lightsaber on a smaller scale. With the freedom to choose your preferred 'light' color, the possibilities are endless. To achieve flawless results, read through the provided instructions carefully, paying particular attention to the support structure designed for easy printing and minimal cleanup. Cleaning up will require little effort beyond standard procedure. May the force be with you! Instructions The Replicator 2 printer excels at printing this model at a Standard resolution of 0.20mm, using Raft On / No Support / 4 Shells / 60% infill settings to create a solid structure, as certain areas can be quite thin. For machines without Z-Pause functionality, change colors around 40%, 72%, or 93% through the print job to switch from one color to another (assuming the Raft is about 1mm thick and the design isn't scaled up). Never scale this design down, as clearances will become too small for easy disassembly. Follow the images provided to facilitate support removal. Begin by carefully separating the handle from its raft then cut/break it away gently from the outer 'light part', which should almost come loose naturally if the printer prints accurately. Should issues arise when freeing the inner light parts, use a craft knife to carefully trim 0.5mm - 1.0mm off each tip for smooth movement. For optimal flicking action in and out of their slots, apply silicone lubricant liberally around moving 'light' areas then inspect closely for any high points, bumps or imperfections. Addressing these flaws with a craft knife or fine files should resolve the issue. The design employs fine clearances. If parts don't separate so the lights can slide smoothly in/out try incorporating Build Plate Stabilizers on Thingiverse for better printer calibration.
