Light's Vengeance, a mighty hammer wielded by Arthas Menethil during his reign as a paladin, stood out for its enormous size and heavy weight. The silver head of this impressive tool was adorned with intricate runes, while its sturdy haft was wrapped in vibrant blue leather. (Source: Arthas: Rise of the Lich King, page 46) This powerful hammer was bestowed upon Arthas by Gavinrad the Dire, one of the first five paladins of the Silver Hand, after he completed a solemn ceremony at the Cathedral of Light and joined the esteemed Knights of the Silver Hand. When Arthas discovered Frostmourne, he abandoned Light's Vengeance, leaving it behind in the Frostmourne Caverns of Northrend (Players can witness this pivotal moment during the quest Frostmourne Cavern). The Highlord Darion Mograine later retrieved the hammer from its resting place to forge Shadowmourne. Designing this iconic object required a deep understanding of the narrative surrounding various models seen online and in official documents. Interestingly, there exist two distinct versions of Light's Vengeance: • The initial model, used by several designers attempting to recreate the weapon, is based on the version featured in World Of Warcraft. It was discovered that the game's model is actually a reused variant of Grand Marshal's Battle Hammer, an alliance-only lvl 60 PvP weapon. Given that Light's Vengeance was introduced two expansions after Grand Marshal's Battle Hammer, it is evident that no custom design was created for this iconic hammer. Its appearance resembles a cartoonish-looking mallet bearing the Alliance emblem. • The alternative model type, which I chose to develop, is based on the depiction of the hammer in Blizzard's artwork and Warcraft III game. Furthermore, I consulted Arthas: Rise of the Lich King by Christie Golden to ensure that my design aligned with the book's description of this mighty hammer. The description accurately portrays a more substantial weapon than Grand Marshal's Battle Hammer.
