Light Rig for Maya About this file: This is a super simple and easy-to-use light rig for maya. It was created in Maya 2011, utilizing only the built-in maya lights system and not radiosity, which makes it super animation-friendly. Say goodbye to annoying flickering and long render times! This rig has been optimized to work seamlessly with mental ray, resulting in fast render times (of course, dependent on your scene's complexity). Ray-traced shadows are already set up for you. Most channels have been locked and hidden in the channel box to prevent accidental damage. This light rig consists of one main key light with ray-traced shadows and four fill lights without shadows. The fill lights are set to half the intensity of the key light. Plus, you can move, rotate, and toggle visibility of the entire light rig at will. You can have multiple light rigs in a single scene by simply dragging and dropping or importing the light rig into your current project. Feel free to further modify and adjust the lights' attributes through the attribute editor as needed. Custom Attributes: Distance: Adjusts the distance from the origin (or the pivot of the controller). Spread: Controls the spread of the fill lights around the key light, allowing them to move in a 180-degree arc with the starting point at the key light and merging opposite the key light. Intensity: Adjusts the overall strength or power of all the lights in the rig. Test Object: Toggles visibility of a test object, which will move along with the light rig when you adjust its position. The test object won't rotate or scale. Master Scale: Scales the entire light rig without affecting the test object's size. How to Use this Rig: Drag and drop or import the "light rig" file into your scene. Select the "LIGHTS" controller, make a few adjustments as needed, and hit render. You can have multiple light rigs in one scene by opening your current project and dragging and dropping or importing the light rig.
