The amazing thing about 3D printing technology is that it lets you create replicas of rare, unusual and educational items that might be completely beyond your reach otherwise. Just look at this one. This is an early Archaic projectile point lithic called the Little Bear Creek point, which dates from a staggering 4,500 to 3,000 years ago (2,500BC to 1,000BC). This particular light-colored arrowhead belongs to the ancestral proto-indians of the Choctaw tribe and was carefully excavated near the Tennessee River in Western Tennessee. The item(s) are currently safely stored in the Department of Anthropology at Indiana University South Bend. Scanned with a NextEngine scanner, which captured its every detail. If you're interested in using this image for any reason other than personal or have questions about it, please contact Darryl Ricketts (drrickett@iusb.edu). It's worth noting that excavating or removing Native American archeological resources from State, local, or private lands throughout the United States is strictly prohibited and punishable by law; do not attempt to do so! Help protect these precious archaeological resources. If you stumble upon any such remains or have questions about Federal laws, please reach out to a local professional archeologist. If you successfully print this item, be sure to share a photo of your finished product with us and check out my other scans of skulls and bones at http://www.thingiverse.com/dricketts/designs.
