Light pipe mount for Neopixel
thingiverse
I'm revamping an old EM pinball and require a means to direct light from a Neopixel beneath the playfield surface upwards for illuminating playfield plastics. This device serves as a mounting system for a 5mm diameter light pipe, designed to interface with a Neopixel that I extracted from a light strip. The light pipe mount features notches in its base to accommodate the solder legs and tiny chip capacitor adjacent to the LED. It provides a snug press fit for securing over the LED and a similarly secure fit for the surplus light pipes I sourced locally from a Dallas area store. Achieving this setup demanded multiple iterations, as translucent filament proved unsuitable for light pipes and hollow tubes fabricated from 3D filament allowed excessive light escape. A light pipe is ultimately the most effective solution, and this mount streamlines the process.
