Light Mount for Black Box Aquarium Lights
cults3d
This is a mount for Black Box Reef lights that uses the holes on the side of the light for 8mm rods. Make sure the hole centers are precisely 170mm apart to ensure proper alignment. Due to the weight of the lights, I do not recommend using this mounting method on tanks wider than 60 inches; instead, consider using a carbon fiber, nylon, or other strong filament with 90-100% fill for added support. To print this mount, your printer must be capable of producing an object with dimensions of at least 203x210mm for the euro version and 195x210mm for the thin version. This design offers significant improvements over traditional methods using PVC pipe or 2x4 lumber. Before assembly, purchase two 8mm metal rods (preferably stainless steel) that match the width of your aquarium tank. The fit should be snug due to interference; if it's too tight, heat the rod and push it in gently. Avoid using the mount if the rod is too loose. This design comes with two file options: one for eurobraces featuring a wider foot and another for thinner braces. However, I strongly advise against using this mounting method on rimless tanks due to safety concerns; instead, opt for a different solution that provides better support and stability.
