Light House Remixed Top
thingiverse
I made a few tweaks and fixes to the light house models by josemivaz and johnesc (thanks guys!). I modified the light component to accommodate a 3 LED tap light, which is an impressive bargain at $1.50, requiring only 3 AAA batteries to shine brightly in even the most fully lit rooms. To fit this new light source, I slimmed down the clear windows and reworked the top piece to snugly fit the thinner glass. Meanwhile, when I printed the balcony attachment designed for a piece of filament, I discovered a gap between the central tube and the base, so I revised the part to eliminate that defect and it's now available here. My printer uses 3mm filament, which wouldn't fit in the original design, so I improvised by using leftover elastic string from an earlier project to create the rail. Printing the entire lighthouse at 100% scale took approximately 50 hours in total, but the end result is definitely worth it. This exercise was actually practice for a student project to build smaller replicas of real-life lighthouses, which will be unveiled soon.
