Light Gnat Trap (UV and Green/Yellow)
thingiverse
This trap is based on the research article published in Nature: In search of the spectral composition of an effective light trap for the mushroom pest Lycoriella ingenua (Diptera: Sciaridae). The research recommended wavelengths of LEDs @ UV 385NM and 526 nm Green (I used 385nm UV LEDs and Green/Yellow 568/588nm LEDs) This green/yellow LED is out of spec for the research, but it was what I used and does seems to work. The artwork for the printed circuit board (PCB) mask is the file Gnat2. See my YouTube channel "JTandHZ" for video of how to make a PCB. The PCB is just hot glued into the case and the back case just press fits. The picture is after 24 hours of trapping. Yes there is one mosquito trapped on it. I used a 12vdc wall wart power supply. The sticky plastic used is 1/3 of a sheet of a window fly trap. Here is a link to the video that has this project in greater detail. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JUFPI3kYHQU
