Light fixture adapter (hanging, sandwich method)
thingiverse
As I tore down my outdated light fixtures from the even older ceiling and attempted to fit the new ones, a sense of dread washed over me: I will never find the necessary adapters to make it work seamlessly, plus the ceiling's in pretty rough shape.\r\n\r\nAs I gazed at my reliable Prusa MK2s, I realized that with some creative problem-solving, I could make this project work.\r\n\r\nI whipped out my caliper and the fixtures plate, then after some precise measuring, the thing was done, fitted, and working perfectly!\r\n\r\n**The complete parts list for one fixture adapter:**\r\n\r\n* 1x Fixture Hanger\r\n* 1x 100-200mm M5 threaded rod, cut to size\r\n* 3x M5 nuts\r\n* 2x M2.5 x 12mm wood screws\r\n* 2x Fixture spacers for the M2.5 screws\r\n* 1x Adapter Plate\r\n* 1x Fixture cover Disk\r\n\r\n**Assemble using this step-by-step instruction list:**\r\n\r\n1. Place the nuts in their corresponding slots. **YOU SHOULD GLUE THEM IN IF POSSIBLE!**\r\n2. Screw one nut onto the rod, it will tighten up to the adapter plates' nut.\r\n3. Screw and tighten the adapter plate to the nut as flush as possible. **The nut slot should be facing down and no rod should be sticking out!**\r\n4. Use the spacers and the wood screws to screw a new fixtures' plate onto the adapter plate.\r\n5. Place the hanger in the hole with the nut facing **UP**.\r\n6. Screw the entire adapter assembly into the hanger a little bit.\r\n7. Position everything straightly.\r\n8. Put on the cover disk on the adapter plate using some geometry (just put it from side to side).\r\n9. **MAKE SURE YOUR CABLES ARE TUCKED AWAY IN THE HOLE AND CAN BE PULLED OUT THROUGH THE GAPS IN THE DISK EASILY AT THIS STEP!**\r\n10. **With cables tucked** tighten everything by turning the adapter assembly plate into the hanger.\r\n11. Pull out the cables and put your new fancy fixture on the ceiling.\r\n12. ???\r\n13. Profit.
