Ever find yourself struggling to see your prints as they progress? Do you have your printer enclosed and want a way to illuminate the print bed? Or perhaps you use OctoPi with video monitoring capabilities. Then this straightforward addon is exactly what you need! This project fits any printer that can accommodate two 210 x 15mm light bars. You'll need to be able to solder in order to assemble this project. To get started, gather the following components: * A power supply (9V 2.1mm DC adapters are easily sourced) * Two DC 2.1mm sockets (you can find these at https://www.maplin.co.uk/p/21-x-55mm-single-hole-fixing-dc-socket-jk09k) * Two DC 2.1mm plugs (available at https://www.maplin.co.uk/p/maplin-21-x-55mm-dc-power-plug-hh60q) * Ten 5mm LEDs of your choice (I used C503C-WAS-CBBDB152 from RS Components) * Ten current limiting resistors to suit your LEDs and power supply (I used CFR16 carbon film resistors, 180R 0.25W) * A single SPST mini toggle switch (I found this at https://www.maplin.co.uk/p/sub-miniature-toggle-switch-a-on-on-spdt-fh00a) * Some wire (I used solid bus wire for convenience) The four plates are attached to the back of either end, allowing you to secure them to your printer using velcro or double-sided tape. This project can be integrated with OctoPi to remotely switch the lights on and off; simply add a relay board in-line with the power supply before the input.
