Light and Socket Switch Guard UK

Designed to safeguard UK light switches and plug sockets from accidental shutdowns, these simple guards provide a reliable solution. I have utilized them on several occasions to ensure that my plug sockets and light switches remain consistently active. To secure the switch in place, double-sided tape is employed. A gap within the design enables access to the switch using a toothpick or bank card when necessary. An additional 1mm bar surrounding the edge provides enhanced strength (and I personally prefer this aesthetic). Featuring an uncomplicated design crafted in OpenSCAD, most settings can be tailored to suit individual preferences. The dimensions of 32mm in length and 6mm in depth provide adequate clearance for most switches; however, one older light switch required a 7mm clearance, prompting the creation of a 7mm version as well. If the gap were eliminated, the design could be rotated by 90 degrees and printed on its side. These models are printed with supports at a resolution of 0.2mm. Other settings may also work but have not been tested due to their potential for fewer layers. Version 2 introduces an option to incorporate strengthening corners or enclosed sides, which, although not strictly necessary, can be used to bolster the overall structure. Additionally, printing after rotating the design by 90 degrees and lying it on its side may also yield stronger prints. As my first model constructed using OpenSCAD, this design is not the most refined or efficient code; however, it serves its purpose effectively. Hopefully, this will prove beneficial for anyone else seeking a similar solution.
