LifeTrac Quick Connect Module

Here is my idea for the LifeTrac Quick connect Module. My approach is very simple and low cost, but I think it could work. It has a modular geometry that can be assembled in a short time. I’m maintaining the original model with the two bearing housing and the Hydraulic motor at the third connection point, even if it’s a difficult or a somewhat inconvenient configuration. The reason for this is that I think that it’s important to maintain the most stable and rigid support possible for the axle system. For the current structure/chassis, it’s critical to use both horizontal square tubes as base for the transmission components. Additionally, the spacing between the supports is short and the alignment can be adjusted at assembly. As requested, I made my design modular and easily interchangeable with other equipment. In order to make it easy and quick to disassemble, I incorporated two special nuts that tighten two bolts at the same time. These nuts have a right hand thread on one side and a left hand thread at the other, and when it’s rotated, it tightens or loosens the two bolts simultaneously. (This arrangement can be overridden and regular bolts and nuts can be used to attach the system to the chassis). My model allows reusing the current holes in the horizontal Tubes, the ones that were used for the original mounting plates. The only additional holes will be for the two “pin guides” at the bottom plate of the module. Regarding the failure of the motor coupling; as I see it, occurred because the huge torque was transmitted by a single Keyway, (At least the most important reason). I did some calculations and determined that a parallel spline connection for the 1-1/4” diameter shaft of the motor shown in the link, and a 6 spline 1-3/4” diameter spline connection for the axle, could transmit the torque given by the mentioned motor. Both splines have a 2-1/4” length. The coupling material has to be Alloyed Steel. However, I think more information has to be considered in order to calculate this with more precision. Any comment/feedback is most welcome /MECA
