Life Sized JoelBot
prusaprinters

I want to make a life sized JoelBot to present to Joel at MRRF next year, similar to the life-sized Rick from Rick and Morty. By my calculations, Joel is approximately 1854mm tall.

I plan on printing all the parts with the PLA I have and sand and painting it, unless proto-pasta or matterhackers wants to send me 5kg of blue filament (high-five blue would be awesome). If you would like to contribute filament or printer time to this cause (it will be shipped to MRRF 2018) please PM me or comment.

Print Settings

Printer Brand:

Prusa

Printer:

Prusa Mk2

Rafts:

No

Supports:

No

Resolution:

0.2mm

Infill:

5%

Notes:

This is by far the biggest print I'll ever do so filament supply is an issue.

I broke this down so that all the parts will fit within the build volume of the Prusa i3 Mk2. The biggest piece is less than 240mm x 200mm x 150mm. There are 39 pieces total, I labeled them by the anatomical names so it's easier to follow.

I have not sliced and estimated filament cost or time yet, I'm imagining several hundred hours and at least 5 spools will be needed. I will probably keep these parts at 3 perimeters and 5% infill to keep it light.

Post-Printing

I would recommend drilling a hole through each piece and using a dowel rod all the way through, especially if standing him up on a platform, by itself it will probably break or need to be propped up because of the weight distribution, glue, and layer weaknesses.

Category: Sculptures
