LIDL glider - crash proof motor mount
thingiverse
This is a motor mount designed specifically for installing a 1811 brushless on a LIDL glider. The main goal was to avoid any modifications to the body of the glider and ensure that the motor can be easily removed to revert the moto-glider back to its original glider configuration. To install the motor, simply push the nose through the motor mount's hole and tilt it into position, making sure that the flat area is in contact with the canopy tip. Once correctly positioned, a rubber band will lock both the motor mount and the canopy securely in place. In the event of a crash landing, the motor can tilt and gently push back the canopy, thanks to the plane's nose acting as a damper - this has been flight-tested and proven effective, as shown in the last photo. You can customize the motor mount to add some down angle to the motor for optimal performance. To see the motor mount in action, check out the video at https://youtu.be/RDSraqfzfKg (apologies for the video quality). A V1 version of the motor mount is now available, featuring the ability to trim the motor's pitch angle. To take advantage of this feature, simply use an M3 bolt as the axis.
