LIDL glider - crash proof motor mount
cults3d
This is a motor mount to install a 1811 brusless on a LIDL glider. The idea was to avoid any modification of the body of the glider and to make the motor easily removable to turn back the moto-glider to its original glider configuration. To install the motor just push the nose through the motor mount's hole and tilt it into position. The flat area shall be in contact with the canopy tip. Once in correct position, a rubber band will lock both the motor mount and the canopy. After a crash landing, the motor gets the possibility to tilt and push back the canopy. The plane's nose acts as a damper ! (in flight proven, see the last picture). You can customize it to add some down angle to the motor. see it in flight (sorry for the video quality) https://youtu.be/RDSraqfzfKg EDIT : a V1 is released. It now offers the capability to trim the motor's pitch angle. Use a M3 bolt as axis.
