Lidar Slipring For Continuous Rotation

This is a 3D printed device used in conjunction with a Lidar module. The Lidar module utilized is an earlier version of the one showcased in the link below, although their physical appearances are identical and are likely compatible. This device was combined with a slipring and a continuous servo motor to facilitate rotation for 360-degree scanning. Lidar: https://www.sparkfun.com/products/14032 The slipring used is similar to this: https://www.sparkfun.com/products/13065 The servo utilized can be found at http://www.mantech.co.za/ProductInfo.aspx?Item=14M4566 An optical pickup was later implemented due to the servo's inability to achieve precise speed. The exact details of the sensor are unknown, but it was mounted using the "opt_pickup_bracket.stl". This sensor picks up the teeth on the servo gear. Note that depending on the material used for the servo gear, the IR light from the pickup may penetrate it. Here is a video demonstrating the rotation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTpgX9L4r6I Hardware: This device requires one 608 bearing, which is pressed into the main body's interior. The slipring shaft was coupled to the main gear shaft using a fairly soft tube. M2 fasteners are sufficient for attaching the servo, while M3 fasteners can be used for mounting the Lidar and main body. Print Settings Printer Brand: RepRap Printer: Prusa i3 Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.2mm Infill: 60% (can probably be less) Notes: I printed this device in PLA, but I recommend printing the smaller servo gear in ABS due to wear. The body was printed with supports and the flange upwards. The main gear was printed with supports and the shaft upwards. Note that I increased the inner diameters on some of the holes as my printer used with Slic3r tends to print inner diameters smaller than specified.
