Lid Storage for 48-400 Cap (3 Gallon or 5 Gallon Water Bottle)
thingiverse
This compact piece is engineered to securely hold the lid that usually fits on 3 and 5 gallon water jugs commonly found in America. I designed it as a convenient spot to stash the lid for a water bottle when it's being used in a water dispenser. You can manufacture this part using any material you prefer, but I highly suggest PETG for this particular application. In contrast to many designs available online, the threads on this design meet SP 48-400 finish standards. Two thread profiles are included; General purpose "L" threads and modified buttress "M" threads. Both profiles exceed the commonly recommended 45 degree overhang angle, but due to the curved shape of the threads can still be printed without supports. The general purpose threads have a more shallow overhang and should be easier to print, while the modified buttress threads will provide a tighter seal.
