This is one of the many figurative sculptures that adorn the 14 hectares of the Botanical Gardens in Cluj, a scientific garden dedicated to recreation and education. These pieces range from renowned Romanian botanists who founded and researched within the grounds of the gardens, revered Roman deities of fertility and the harvest, and depictions of scenes of younger botanists studying. The Cluj-Napoca Botanical Garden is a botanical garden located in the south part of Cluj-Napoca, Romania. It was established in 1872 by Samuel Brassai. Its director in 1905 was Aladár Richter, followed by Páter Béla, Győrffy István, and then taken over in 1920 by the local university, and later by Alexandru Borza. This esteemed institution is a scientific, didactic, and educational entity, subordinate to the Babes-Bolyai University.
