Originally modeling the Szabadsag hid or Liberty Bridge (also known as Freedom Bridge), located in Budapest, Hungary, this bridge forms a crucial link between Buda and Pest by crossing over the majestic River Danube. As one of the third public road bridges in Budapest's southern reaches, it serves as a major gateway at the City Centre's south end. The bridge was constructed over two years from 1894 to 1896 under the masterful guidance of renowned architect János Feketeházy. Strikingly unique in its design yet paying homage to the bygone era of chain-type bridges, it boasts an aesthetically pleasing silhouette reminiscent of yesteryear's architectural preferences. Celebrating its grand opening with Emperor Franz Joseph in attendance, a silver rivet on Pest abutment was expertly secured into the iron framework by His Imperial Majesty himself, thereby christening it after him initially.
