Liberty Bell Profile
thingiverse
The iconic Liberty Bell is an unmistakable symbol of freedom and democracy in the United States. Its history dates back to 1752 when it was first rung on September 5th, signaling the start of a new era for Pennsylvania's citizens. The bell itself is made from a combination of copper and tin alloys, resulting in its distinctive bright bronze finish. Crafted by John Pass and John Stow, two skilled English silversmiths who worked at Whitechapel Bell Foundry in London, the Liberty Bell was intended to be used inside Independence Hall. However, due to its size, it ended up being placed outside on the grounds of Independence National Historical Park in Philadelphia. The inscription "Proclaim Liberty Throughout All the Land Unto All the Inhabitants Thereof" is taken directly from Leviticus 25:10, and serves as a reminder of the importance of freedom. The bell's size is impressive, measuring seven feet nine inches tall and three feet wide. As time went on, the Liberty Bell became an official symbol of American independence. It has been the subject of numerous photographs, paintings, and other works of art throughout history. In 1915, it was placed inside a glass pavilion at Independence National Historical Park, where it remains to this day.
