Liahona

This is a remix of: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:487036 (Liahona by micjwelch) The Thingiverse remix selection tool is broken, so I'm including it here. Why did I remix this? 1. I wanted a bigger version (remodeled in 2019) 2. I wanted the hands to spin on their own (remodeled in 2021) Tips: - I recommend using __Silk Gold__ and __Silk Silver__ for the print. The first print I made of the original was "gold", but more of a dull orange-gold. The Silk Gold looks much more impressive. - I cut the top cage into two parts. I had tried over and over with many different configurations to print it in one piece (with supports, 100% fill, supports starting at 15 degrees, brim, etc), but the print failed over and over (and that's with an Ender 5 Plus). So I used MeshMixer to split it into two pieces. Once printed it is really easy to super glue (krazy glue) them together (and it still looks great). - I recommend using a more solid support for the Bottom Dish, and leaving it (don't cut it out). When the Text Ring and Bottom Dish are screwed together, the printing support becomes support for the clock mechanism in the Text Ring, so the clock doesn't wiggle. - When I printed this, I think I had some leftover ABS in my nozzle which caused some variability in flow, so I have some burs in my print. Yours will likely print just fine, but the threads of the Bottom Dish and Text Ring were a little stiff for me initially. I just screwed and unscrewed them together until the threads no longer caught. Now it screws and unscrews very smoothly. And in the future when the battery dies, it will be easy to unscrew it and replace the battery. - The Tray is a really snug fit in the top of the Text Ring, and does not necessarily need to be glued, but I recommend it anyway. Also, the hole for the clock mechanism post to come through may be a little small (intentionally ... we want a tight fit). If so, just take a pocket knife and rotate the blade around the inside of the hole to widen it a bit. - The Cage arms will need to be glued to the top rim of the Text Ring. The arms of the cage are just a smidgen shy of the outer edge, so I recommend gluing down two of them on one side, then after those have dried, go around the edges and glue another one or two. Repeat until they are all glued down. Alternatively, you could try sizing it up just a smidgen. - To find the clock mechanism, you can search eBay or amazon (https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=clock+mechanism or https://www.amazon.com/s?k=clock+mechanism). I bought 10 on amazon for about $18. Almost all of the ones I found looked to be the same size. The one's I got were about 2.2 inches, but as you can see by one of the pictures, the text ring is big enough to fit something slightly larger. - I remodeled the Spindles with a hole just smaller than you need for the clock mechanism posts because I wanted them to fit snuggly (without glue). Just like the Tray, you will probably need to widen it a bit ... just enough to fit on the clock mechanism posts. - For the Stand, you'll need to clean out the support material really well, and probably even sand it down some. That's it. Enjoy!
