Li'l Litho Nite Lite

The Li'l Litho Night Light is a fixture for a small (93mm wide x 32mm high) lithophane. If you're not familiar with lithophanes, let me suggest a free site that will transform your photo into an .stl file that when printed and backlit looks like a photograph. The site is https://lithophanemaker.com/index.html. I use the Flat Lithophane Maker (https://lithophanemaker.com/Framed%20Lithophane.html) to create dimensioned lithophanes. You can also create designs using 3d modeling software; extruding parts of a design to different thicknesses. The thicker the extrusion, the less light will be transmitted and vise versa. The base unit is designed to house a 3 light strip of 5050 LEDs and to be wired with 24 gauge speaker wire. Orient the light strip in the groove so a positive contact is in the lower left corner and the negative contact is in the upper right. The positive wire (copper colored) should be about 5mm shorter than the negative (silver colored). Push the wires into the channels provided with small screwdriver. You'll also need a 12v DC power source. I haven't included the graphics files, but in the course of many experiments I found there's a lot of latitude in what you can achieve. Get crazy! I have included the Fusion 360 file if you want to modify the base design.
With this file you will be able to print Li'l Litho Nite Lite with your 3D printer. Click on the button and save the file on your computer to work, edit or customize your design. You can also find more 3D designs for printers on Li'l Litho Nite Lite.
