Custom Lithium-Ion Case for MAKITA 8391DWPE PA18 18V Drill
Inspired by Erhil's innovative design for the 14.4v Makita Power Pack, I decided to create an 18v (PA18) version that replaces the outdated NiCad batteries. This custom case was designed to fit non-protected Li-ion (2600Mah) batteries in a 5S2P configuration (18.5v 5200mah), and I've found old laptop batteries to be an excellent source for these components. You can purchase battery holders at a low cost from Banggood or, if necessary, print the included 5x2 model using a 18650 reference cell. An STL file is provided in the files section for easy access. I strongly advise incorporating a BMS circuit with under/over charge and thermal cutout capabilities into your design, and I recommend this 5s 100a unit from Banggood. If you have any dead PA-18 NiCad packs, consider repurposing the top part of the battery pack and clips to reuse them in this custom case (saving several hours of printing time). !!!Important Safety Note: Never charge with a stock charger; always use a charger specifically designed for Li-ion batteries.!!! ![Tony](http://www.amerrigan.co.uk/imgz/avatar0001.jpg "Signature")
