LG G4 cradle
thingiverse
I came up with a simple design for a cradle that holds my LG G4 phone upright while it's charging on my desk. I had one of those cases with a little leg to stand on, but it broke and left me looking for an alternative solution. "Proper" charging cradles often have their own USB ports, but I've found they either break or damage the phone's port - this design uses whatever cable you have lying around. The only catch is that the cable needs to bend forward and not backward, as shown in the picture. Bending it back would require more height for the space holding the phone, and the model is already tall enough. I created the design using Fusion 360, which essentially boils down to two triangles with a rectangle connecting them. It was a matter of drawing a sketch, extruding to cover the width of the phone, then using more extrusions to remove unnecessary material in the middle. You could probably get away with even less material, but I like my models chunky. You can print this design in one go without supports - I believe the largest overhang angle is about 40 degrees or so. It prints just fine at a 0.3mm layer height and 20% infill, with two shells and a two-pass skirt to prime the extruder. No need for rafts or brims - this has plenty of support on its own.
