I recently acquired a super cheap Android-based touchscreen smartphone. Wanting to utilize my camera tripod to keep it stable, I needed a solution to attach it. This is what I devised. It has worked exceptionally well for me as a tripod adapter and as a way to simply position the phone upright. The adapter is small, lightweight, holds the phone snugly but is easy to install and remove, and can hold the phone in exact center alignment without obstructing the volume buttons.
