Supporting arch stone lion. This piece is currently part of the Montemor-o-Novo Friends Group collection at São Domingos Convent in Montemor-o-Novo. Its original origin is unknown, but it is very likely from Montemor-o-Novo Castle. Its purpose would be to, together with another identical piece that also resides in the same collection, support a burial chest. Despite the animal form, this lion's smile clearly resembles a human smile.
