Lexus RX300 window switch fix
thingiverse
My parents' RX300 window switch was malfunctioning, frequently going down and up randomly. While fixing the regulators, an unrelated issue, I decided to disassemble the switch assembly. Upon doing so, I discovered a tiny deteriorated part on the inside of the switch. I transferred an intact one from another switch to the faulty one, which immediately worked. After about an hour in tinkering mode and delivering it to my dad the next day, the switch functioned as planned. I've encountered numerous fixes and problems with these aging cars, and this solution might be a viable (inexpensive) option for others experiencing similar issues. If your switch fails to return to its original position, investigate this issue further, as it's likely due to the contacts acting erratically. When lifting the switch cover off the assembly, exercise caution, as you'll find several loose plastic pieces inside. These are what will be replaced with this modification. A spring is present in the assembly, which this part rides on to return the switch to its center position. Simply remove the broken components, install the new ones, and complete the task. I hope this solution proves helpful to others facing similar problems.
