Lexus unveils the all-new Lexus RX 350 and Lexus RX 450h hybrid at the 2008 Los Angeles Auto Show. Pioneering the car-based luxury utility vehicle segment since its launch in 1998, this vehicle is completely redesigned and continues to set new benchmarks in innovation, styling, performance, utility, and comfort. At the heart of the new Lexus RX models are two improved powertrains. The second-generation Lexus RX 450h features an enhanced Lexus Hybrid Drive system with a highly efficient 3.5-liter V6 gas engine running on an Atkinson cycle. Combined with a more efficient inverter, total system output reaches 295 horsepower, surpassing the current generation's 268 horsepower. Lexus Hybrid Drive undergoes further evolution with the addition of two new systems that significantly improve its efficiency. The first is an exhaust-heat recovery system that reduces engine warm-up time and enables it to stop earlier, more often, and for longer periods, resulting in improved fuel economy and reduced emissions.
