This information is shared for those experiencing the same issue and unwilling to spend $700 for Lexus repair. The problem arises when the center console lid slides back, exerting force onto two minute 5x7mm plastic strips, 3mm thick. This design flaw could have been avoided with structural analysis or simulation tests. For a solution, print the replacement part at 100% infil with fine layer height (I used .25). Ensure smooth infil for tension resistance. Pre-drill top mount clearance holes for 1/4" screws. Align printed piece with base and pre-drill clearance holes through both parts, counter-bore from the plastic piece to accommodate flat head screws. Optionally, use strong bondant or JB Weld as a coating before installation for enhanced shear strength.
