Levitating Top
thingiverse
This hovering top utilizes repelling magnets to achieve a spinning motion while levitating. Repelling magnets are inherently unstable, requiring an additional force for stability. The gyroscopic effect of the spinning top serves as this stabilizing influence. The base accommodates thirteen and one-half inches by one-eighth inch disc magnets, while the top features a single three-quarter-inch outside diameter by three-eighths-inch inside diameter by one-eighth-inch thick ring magnet. All base magnets should have their north poles facing upwards, whereas the ring magnet in the top must face downwards with its north pole. Use the cap to secure the base magnets in place.
