I've always been captivated by the potential of superconductors to defy gravity, so I decided to design a mesmerizing demo to showcase their incredible properties in outreach activities. Behold, my concept for a levitating Superconductor on a Möbius strip! This demo features a superconductor suspended above a track made up of magnets. The 3D printed components are carefully designed to hold the magnets together and form the track's shape. However, building this requires more than just a 3D printer – you'll need a range of specialized tools and materials. The track is modular, comprising three types of pieces: straight, turn, and twist. These pieces can be easily connected using screws, allowing you to create complex track designs tailored to your budget and interests. The shape and length of the track will depend on how much you're willing to invest in high-quality magnets and a reliable superconductor. To make the most of this demo, it's essential to choose a strong enough superconductor that can maintain its magnetic lock – the twist piece is particularly demanding in this regard. I'd like to extend my gratitude to NSERC for providing funding for this project.
