Lever Door Handle Block
thingiverse
I decided not to purchase a safety door handle at a big box store, so I fired up TinkerCAD and MeshMixer to see what would happen. The result will probably get an update after I print it and find out how it works. This is made for a 2.5" handle diameter with extension from the door. I'm not responsible for how good or bad this thing is, since I'm just a hobbyist having fun. It's being printed on my Dremel 3D printer in green because that sounds cool to me. I'll post pictures when the print is done and when I try to put it on my door. UPDATE: I printed it with cheap settings and now it has separating layers. I also found out I used way too much plastic and made a few ridges I don't like, so there's going to be another version. To build this thing, I measured the handle dimensions on one of mine, fiddled around in TinkerCAD until I had a design, and then worked on hollowing it out with MeshMixer. The final step was to use the Dremel3D slicer to get the print done. This is number 1.7 because this was my 1st try, but not quite that easy, and I had seven failures first.
