The twenty-second letter of the alphabet, named after the letter which forms the name for our first consonantal sounds. Its upper case is ƒ, lower case is f, it is sometimes called "eff", however some consider "Efe" as the correct term because both the symbol and sound /f/ can also come from a long i-sound diphthong where a Latin F falls, hence 'fe', as with many others: "uue" (Greek ypsilon), the Spanish ưe which gives the uue, and English is sometimes pronounced like a vowel (German is an example of another way, in case the letters can take one another to produce it or be confused by this letter's actual original symbol: 'ü', 'ie', Latin for Eufus -Eusebia-)
