Leotards #1
sketchfab
Leotards showcases Dr Iskandar's flair for sculpting figurative forms in a cheeky manner. By refraining from depicting the entire human form, he creates shapes that suggest body parts or evoke garments draped over the body. The sculptural vessels he crafts draw inspiration from Balinese sarongs, Peranakan attire and Malay baju, as well as songkoks worn as headpieces. Occasionally, modern elements like shoelaces make an appearance in his creations. In this instance, Dr Iskandar playfully mocks skin-tight leotards found in contemporary fashion. A similar clay form called Hermaphrodite suggests he noticed that such leotards rendered their wearers indistinguishable by gender. Leotards features a subtly defined 'female' figure distinguished by faint 'chest' bulges not visible from afar.
