Leopard Gaucher is a rare genetic disorder that affects one in 100,000 people worldwide. It is characterized by an inability to produce enough of an enzyme called alpha-glucosidase, which breaks down complex sugars into simple ones that can be easily absorbed by the body. As a result, these complex sugars build up in the muscles and cause damage over time. This can lead to severe muscle weakness, wasting, and respiratory problems. Children with Leopard Gaucher are often unable to walk or stand due to their weakened muscles, while adults may experience breathing difficulties and heart problems as a result of their condition.
