The 12th century AD dating\nDimensions L 113 cm\nConservation location Diocesan Museum of Parma\nThe four Verona marble lions belonged to the large candelabrum of the Cathedral, where as a front plate was the "Deposition" by Benedetto Antelami. This pulpit or candelabrum was located in the central nave of the Cathedral, at the height of the sixth bay on the left. The candelabrum rose from the nave with its imposing parallelepiped shape of almost 5.30 m in height, a width of 3.00 m and a depth of 3.42 m. The reconstructive hypothesis shows the solemnity of this "architecture" for the announcement of the Word, where on the four lions that held between their paws the animals and their symbolism, emerged the columns that supported the front plate of the "Deposition" as main image and base on which rested the lectern of the Scriptures.
