Initially, I suspected that my 3D printer was producing objects 2% too small, possibly due to insufficient steps-per-mm for the X and Y axes. However, this is highly unlikely as precise calculations can provide the number with numerous decimal places. To verify the accuracy of your movement calibration, print the attached file and measure the distance from the top of the "L" to the protruding part at the bottom. If you're still unsure after printing, rotate the object 90 degrees for testing in the other axis; this is particularly relevant for RepRap printers with distinct mechanisms for X and Y movement. The L-shaped object also features a cutout near one corner to ensure equal approach of both measurement surfaces, cancelling out any hysteresis effects. If printed at 100% scale, the object should measure 100mm in length. I have since made improvements to the design, so you will receive the updated version rather than the one shown in the photograph. The file was printed with a 30% fill, three layers of bottom and top thickness at a layer height of 0.2mm.
