Being disabled shouldn't mean being disadvantaged, and no one should be left behind as technology advances. Losing a limb or hand function today makes using a smartphone very challenging. This attachable arm enables one-handed phone use, as part of the #AssistiveTech challenge. Parts needed: Print each of these files (labelled “b”, e.g., 1b and 4b are options). Refer to attached "Parts Catalog" screenshot. 8 x M3*12mm screws 2 x M3*6mm OR 8mm screws 1 x M4*30mm bolt & nut 4 x short self-tapping screws 1 x 1/2” electrical trunking 2 rubber bands 1 x M5*40mm bolt & nut 1 x M5*60mm bolt & nut 1 x length of 10mm strap Assembly: Pass strap through Base unit loops. Secure ends with dead knots (I may add a self-locking clip later) Mount Base Socket to Base unit using 4 M3*12mm screws. Note, these are designed to enter at an angle toward the underside of the socket. Insert Ball Joint. Install M4*30mm bolt through Lock Handle, secure with the nut. Screw it into the Socket base Connect Phone Assembly Connector to Phone Assembly Swivel with a M5*40mm bolt and nut. Secure for some resistance. Add Phone Holder Base to that assembly with M5*60mm bolt and nut. Secure for some resistance. Install Phone Back Support using 2 M3*6mm or 8mm screws. Slot both Phone Grips through the assembly. Install 4 M3*12mm screws to all four ends - Do not install fully, the protrusion acts as a brake and to loop the rubber bands (next step). Connect opposite ends of both Phone Grips with rubber band each, double-loop if needed for good resistance when grips are pulled apart. These hold phone in place. Measure length of electrical trunking to connect both Base and Phone assemblies, simulating forearm. Cut TWO same lengths. Secure in hexagon ports with self-tapping screws. Wear the entire unit, adjust viewing angle, lock arm with Lock Handle, install phone Video: https://youtu.be/gigb-_6cvnM
