Leiston Abbey 2015: Minsmere Chapel
sketchfab
Built on the original site of Leiston Abbey after every single stone was meticulously removed to its current location in 1363, this ancient structure is believed to have served as a chapel dedicated to St Mary until its dissolution in 1563. At the onset of the second world war, both gable ends were carefully dismantled and replaced with a defensive pillbox constructed into the remaining remnants. Today, these two historic buildings are meticulously preserved as scheduled ancient monuments.
