Leica Digilux 1 add-on lens adaptor (wide angle / macro)
thingiverse
This adaptor allows the use of inexpensive M52 Chinese made add-on wide-angle lenses with the classic Leica Digilux 1 camera. The picture quality may be slightly compromised, and the adaptor causes a little vignetting at the corners of the image possibly due to my mistake of making the adaptor too long restricting the field of view but the result is quite what I wanted. The Digilux 1 has a thread for add-on lenses hidden beneath a smooth piece of metal at the front of the lens. Remove this cover and you can screw the adaptor into place with the add-on lens screwed into the end of the adaptor. Note that no attempt has been made to create a highly detailed replica of the very fine thread on either the adaptor or the add-on lens. The adaptor screws in due to the fact that the plastic used for printing the adaptor is softer than the metal on the lens and camera which seems just about strong enough with my print on my camera with my lens. In fact, I had to remove a small amount of material using sandpaper before everything could be screwed together correctly. Depending on the tolerances of your printer versus mine you may experience a less precise fit. I printed at 0.3 mm resolution in natural PLA colour and it might be better to print the adaptor in a darker colour or black, or to paint it with black paint after printing.
