I have an LGB 92377 G Scale train locomotive, 'Rusty', which a few Christmases ago stopped operating properly. At first I assumed the gears on the drive wheels were worn down and as a result the worm gears coming off the motor no longer made proper contact. After replacing the worm gears with Champex-Linden CL30049 gears, the worm gears still did not mate properly with the drive wheel gears. A similar thing happened to a Bachmann 4-6-0 locomotive I had so I was familiar with the problem. What happens is, the motor gets hot enough during operation to deform the plastic to the point where the motor is no longer held securely in place. This slight movement allows the worm gear to slip away from the drive wheel gear which causes premature wear and tear on those gears. I am hopeful this model will keep a few trains out of the scrap heap as LGB does not sell this part as far as I can tell. OnlyTrains.com has the service manual showing all parts and proper assembly here: https://www.onlytrains.com/manuals/92377-1.pdf Keep your parts in order as you disassembly the locomotive and use the proper screw drivers! I found a J1 Philips head screw driver worked better than a standard No. 1 or No. 2 for a lot of the screws. I have also included my model of the CL30049 gears though I highly recommend purchasing the injection molded plastic ones from Champex-Linden as 3d printed (I tried both FDM and Resin printed gears and they were a terrible idea) will crack or split. Even one of the Champex-Linden gears failed on me which banging it onto the shaft with a hammer so I highly recommend to purchase a second set as a backup!!
