I needed custom legs for my Printrbot Simple Metal, but no commercial option could elevate it sufficiently for the extensive wiring beneath. The few alternatives I tried consistently detached even when gently moved around. So I created a set tailored to my specific needs. These new legs are crafted to be easily printable and perfectly compatible with the print area of my machine. I intentionally avoided using any support material in their design, making successful printing hassle-free. While the front legs do feel slightly loose due to excessive channel width, they maintain stability and prevent movement during transit. Since it wouldn't be worth redesigning and reprinting just yet, I'll settle with their current state for now. Meanwhile, the rear legs are snug but need a bit of fidgeting before they fit seamlessly into place. The bases or "feet" of each leg are 20mm by 20mm in size, making it simple to attach small rubber footpads purchased from my local hardware store to reduce vibrations during operation. To achieve optimal results when printing these custom legs, I recommend printing with the feet pointing upwards and at a slight incline across the Z axis – that's how I got my best print to date. Due to their thoughtful design, support material shouldn't be necessary for a trouble-free print job. In fact, some high-quality prints can be achieved even without supports. The examples shown in our gallery were successfully printed with a .2mm resolution setting.
