I designed my own U.S. railroad style diesel plow, a classic sight on nearly every locomotive in the United States today. I'm not a fan of Lego's standard plow, which is European-styled and doesn't fit with my freight cars that use manually built trucks without bumpers. Since my trucks don't have European-designed couplers, I decided to create a similar design for locomotives. After searching in vain for an existing design, I took matters into my own hands and designed one using SketchUp and TinkerCad. This plow model comes with an added feature: the brake line/hose connector is included. Take a look at the photos to see it in action. To complete the brake line and hose, I designed a separate brake line that inserts through the plow. Using a minifig hand, I connected the hose to the hand, and inserted a 3mm (Inside Diameter) flexible tube to simulate the end of the brake hose. The tiny brake line insert included in the .STL file has eight parts because they're small and might break when installed. You'll find two versions of the plow in this post: one with the brake line and one without. I've also added a third version, which includes ditch light tabs on the plow - see the new photos for details. I was tired of the ditch lights falling off when mounted on the loco's porch, so I made some adjustments. Please note that you'll need permission to use this model commercially - just in case anyone cares.
