Lego Technic compatible gears/cogs with custom numbers of teeth are available. These gears have unique numbers of teeth that meet specific requirements for compatibility with Lego systems. When two gears are combined, the total number of teeth must be a multiple of 16 to ensure the distance between their axes is an integer number of Lego holes. For example, pairing a 24-tooth gear with an 8-tooth gear results in 32 teeth combined, resulting in a distance of exactly 2 Lego holes. For specific axis distances that are multiples of 0.5 holes (1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, or 3.5), the total number of teeth on both gears must be a multiple of 8 to ensure proper alignment and function.
