LEGO Like - Power Functions Battery Boxes
thingiverse
Made this LEGO style battery box and top a while ago, but forgot to upload it until now. Various sizes are available, and there's also a version of a PF style connector that uses 4 SIPs as pins. To complete the tops, you'll need half of a PF extension cable. I know modifying LEGO pieces is frowned upon, but my 3-year-old son is like a LEGO godzilla - he devours everything in sight! Once cut, the PF socket fits snugly into the opening on the top piece. Fish the cable through from underneath. The bend in the cable looks awkward at first glance, but after experimenting with different sizes, this design puts minimal strain on the cable. The fit of the actual PF connector into the top piece is spot-on on my printer. Eventually, I'll get around to posting the PCB that fits into the larger box - it's a simple power supply board. In the meantime, here's a link to an older version I created, which uses just the top from the PF Battery Box 88000 that came with a train set. This one was designed for bigger batteries. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1753984 Enjoy! Print Settings: Printer: HICTOP 3DP12 Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: Yes Resolution: .1mm Infill: 25 - 30% Notes: Printed in PLA, and it should work in ABS. The pieces need to be printed with supports, but they're easily removable if you look at the models.
