Lego ISS small spacecraft mounts
thingiverse
Many thanks to MvRens for the Lego ISS mounting bracket! https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4179644 I made a couple of mounts for the shuttle and satellite that normally sit on the platform. They aren't perfect, but I'm happy enough with them. I got the brick STLs from printablebricks.com, and when I printed the single round stud came out too small. For me, I just put a dab of school glue on it and called it a day. The space shuttle Y bracket had a happy accident, in that I measured the outside dimension but then used it as an inside dimension. Fortunately the plastic bends enough and the additional tension made the bricks mount great, no glue needed. I don't anticipate working on this again, unless something breaks. If I did, I might try to make the wall portion smaller (though I think that size helps provide enough friction to hold at an angle). And I might reinforce the thinner bits more, but I wanted a sense of floating and think I got it, along with the "swoosh" of implied motion. I ended up using only one of the three single stud mounts (originally thought about having two astronauts floating in space, but put them on the surface of the ISS instead), and didn't use the 2x2 one at all. Have fun!
