Use two mounts to hold a laser module securely in place, one side dedicated to the light and the other for cables. No screws are needed since it's held together by the mounts. A 10 to 11 mm diameter laser module should fit snugly inside by default. The upper part can be scaled up in the slicer software to accommodate 12 mm laser modules with ease. To convert a point laser into a line laser, use a solid glass rod at a low cost. Break off an end of the rod and cover the sharp edge using shrink plastic or melt it directly using a gas burner. Tilt the glass to bend the line into a circular curve. Legal note: LEGO lost a court case where it was decided that their standard cannot be copyrighted due to its mathematical features, which are more suitable for a patent. According to copyright law, printing parts compatible with LEGO is acceptable, but printing a part of a standard design that violates LEGO's copyright is not allowed.
