Description A Set of LEGO Compatible Baseplates The set includes two plate dimensions: 10x10 pins (80x80 mm) and 20x20 pins (160x160 mm) They are designed to fit with regular LEGO bricks in order to create a Martian terrain scenery. Designing the Scenery I downloaded the STL scan of the Gale Crater from NASA's website and used Blender to create a detailed model, adding a base and LEGO pins. The 20x20 pin version has four auxiliary pins for displaying a flag on the crater. The decimate modifier was used to reduce the number of polygons from the NASA scan. Sources in Blender format are available for download. Printing Advice I printed the models using the following settings: Nozzle: 0.4 mm Layer height: 0.2 mm Infill: 30% Perimeters: 6 (with a wall thickness of 2.4 mm) For better finishing on the crater surface, I recommend using a 30% infill setting. Weight of the finished objects with 30% infill: 20 g (10x10) and 80 g (20x20). License The models are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) NASA Credits The STL scan of the Gale Crater was downloaded from NASA's website.
